Why we all love to indulge in a mini twix bar every once in awhile, eating eight of them in one sitting is still not good for you (even though they are MINI’s)! Yes, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

So, I have done some research on my own to help you find some “healthier” candy options. Don’t worry these don’t taste bland just because they are better for you!

Pumpkin (or Carrot) Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups old fashioned oats Rhubarb jam

Directions

  • Cream butter and sugars.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until combined.
  • Add all dry ingredients except oats to wet mixture. Mix well.
  • Add oats and stir until combined.
  • Scoop balls of dough onto cookie sheets and press a well into the center of each cookie.
  • Bake at 375 for 10 minutes. Once cooled, fill center with jam.

Other Healthy Treat Options:

  • String cheese and bagged pretzels
  • Hot cocoa
  • Trail mix (almonds and dark chocolate are a great mix!)
  • Sugar free gum
  • Teddy Bear shaped graham cookies
  • Rice crispy treats
